Simkins Industries’ Specialty Paper Division is comprised of DEERFIELD SPECIALTY PAPERS and GLASSINE CANADA, which are manufacturers of greaseproof, glassine and specialty papers. Our papers range from transparent to opaque in an assortment of colors, with basis weights ranging from 18 lb. (30gms) to 90 lb. (147gms). Our papers are utilized in food service, candy, baking, pet food, health care, envelopes, photographic, drafting, release backing, and a multitude of industrial applications. These specialty papers are highly resistant to oils and solvents, and provide an excellent water vapor barrier.

We utilize varied internal and surface treatments for different release or protective characteristics. Simkins provides waxed and over-waxed laminated glassines to producers of food mixes, crackers, biscuits, and cereals. Additionally, we are a primary supplier of glassine to flexible packaging converters that print and apply various coatings and/or laminate to film, for the purpose of packaging potato chips and other snack foods. Our line of colored papers continues to enjoy traditional market appeal within the candy industry; our chocolate glassine cup-stock ranks number one in the fluted cup market. Our reliable, economical greaseproof paper has demand in the pet food industry, where grease containment is required. With broadening market demands and a society increasingly concerned with the environment, we continue to explore ways to create new recyclable packaging materials.
